Orange bikes are coloring Rio’s landscape. With basket, marches, horn and even lock, we have the friendly “Bike Rio”, the new shared bicycle rental program in the city (a partnership between the cityhall and the Serttel, with Banco Itaú sponsorship).
You need to have a smartphone in hand to follow the instructions of the Bike Rio service on the site indicated on the panel. Another option for asking questions, call the information center: 4063-3999.
In any station, just call the number shown (4063-3111) and choose a rental option – R$ 5.00 for 24 hours or R$ 10.00 for a month.
Warning: the daily or monthly rent entitles the use of the bike for a maximum of 60 minutes when the rider should move up a station to return the bike, and only after 15 minutes, getting it again. Respecting this interval, the ride can be resumed without any additional cost. If the deadline passes, the user must pay about R$ 5.00 per hour. Stay tuned to time and relax about the stations, they are close to each other.
Chosen the option of renting, it’s time to take the bike from the station. First, you must provide the station number where the bike will be removed (it is located on the sign above the point). Next, enter the bike position number that you want to release. It is printed on the iron bar where the bike is secured.
See the green light that will flash on the metal bar when the bike is released. Release it before the light goes out, remembering to return it at any station in time. The return of the bike can be made anywhere in the Bike Rio. Choose a free position, fit the bike and make sure it is properly locked. If the station is busy, give a free-call for the User Service Center (0800 892 6650). The same goes if the bike break or get robbed. You can also see the situation of available bikes and free spaces at stations, by calling 4063-3111 or accessing the site.
